“Celebrating the Grand River” through Voice and Film: Brant Waterways’ 35th Anniversary Event

Join Us on Wednesday, September 20th, as we Celebrate the Grand River in recognition of World Rivers Day! Hosted at the perfect location, River’s Edge at the Arlington, overlooking the Grand River.

We celebrate the river by hearing from three guest speakers and a special film, “The Grand”.

  • Ellie Joseph will share her knowledge of Two Row on the Grand, an annual 10-day canoe paddle down the Grand from Cambridge to Port Maitland.
  • Larry Mellors and Warren Yerex will share their knowledge of the Exceptional Waters reach of the Grand River between Paris and Brantford.

Our GRAND finale will be a screening of the new film ‘The Grand’. This 20-minute film follows Tom Ostapchuk on his self-supported journey to kayak the 300 km-long Grand River in southern Ontario. The eight-day expedition tests his determination and stamina as he faces white water rapids, long days of paddling, and isolation with his thoughts. Along the way, he meets passionate paddlers who share their words and wisdom to guide his journey. As Tom rediscovers his place in these lands, he reminds us of the importance of celebrating the natural wonders in our own backyard.

Appetizers will be included with admissions, and a cash bar will be available!
