Trail Improvement & River Access Project (TIRA)

Brant Waterways Foundation’s Trail Infrastructure (TIRA) projects are all about making it easier and more enjoyable for people to get outside and connect with the Grand River. Over the years, the Foundation has helped add trailheads, kiosks, bridges, signage, and accessibility upgrades—improvements that make local trails safer, easier to explore, and welcoming for everyone.

Some highlights include the upgrades to the D’Aubigny Creek and Lorne Bridge trails, which reopened in 2024 with safer and more accessible pathways, and support for trail improvements at Waterworks Park, home of the popular Rotary Bike Park. The Foundation has also helped install interpretive signs along the way, sharing stories about the river’s ecology and cultural significance.

Together, these projects not only connect neighbourhoods, parks, and river access points, but also give people more opportunities to walk, cycle, paddle, and enjoy nature close to home. TIRA projects show how trails can bring the community together while protecting the natural spaces we all love.
